The Hong Kong Island GMB Route 16A is operated by Manhattan Resources Limited (萬能資源有限公司) (Passenger Service Licence (PSL) No. 12426C). It runs between Chai Wan Station and Chung Hom Kok (Cheshire Home), via Cape Collinson (→), Tai Tam, Stanley.
This route, together with the main route 16M, is currently the highest fare daytime GMB route on Hong Kong Island ($13.5 for the whole journey).
History[]
- 5 June 1995: Route 16A entered service, running between Stanley Village and Chun Ma House Ma Hang Estate, via Stanley Gap Road.
- 28 February 2000: To implement the improvement measures recommended by the Consultancy Study on the Operation of Green Minibuses on Hong Kong Island[1], the Southern terminus was relocated to Chung Hom Kok (Cheshire Home) and changed to run via the extension of Carmel Road instead of Stanley Gap Road to tie in with the commissioning of that section of the road, and at the same time changed to run five services per day on opposite sides of the road to tie in with the visiting hours of Cheshire Home.
- 1 August 2006: Further extended from Stanley Village to Chai Wan Station to facilitate the reorganisation of Hong Kong Island GMB Route 16 series. [2]
- 22 January 2017: The special trip of Route 16M from Cheshire Home to Chai Wan departing at at 19:30 daily was changed to operate under the name of this route. [3]
- 3 June 2018: Departure from Chai Wan at 19:00 was cancelled.
- 25 June 2021: Real-time Arrival Information System was introduced to this route.[4]

Minibus deployments[]
According to the Transport Department's "Schedule of Services", a total of 1 minibus are required to serve this route, and can be exchanged with 1 19-seat minibus from route 16M. The total number of passengers carried in each direction during the peakiest hour is not less than 16.
Since Manhattan Resources introduced 19-seat minibuses in April 2018, this route has been served by 19-seat vehicles on a prioritised basis.
Currently Manhattan Resources under Hong Kong Island Routes 16 series, 18M, 20 and 20M have a total of 25 minibuses, included 11 16-seater minibuses and 19 19-seater minibuses. The vehicle models are distributed as follows:
