History[]

  • 5 June 1995: Route 16A entered service, running between Stanley Village and Chun Ma House Ma Hang Estate, via Stanley Gap Road.
  • 28 February 2000: To implement the improvement measures recommended by the Consultancy Study on the Operation of Green Minibuses on Hong Kong Island[1], the Southern terminus was relocated to Chung Hom Kok (Cheshire Home) and changed to run via the extension of Carmel Road instead of Stanley Gap Road to tie in with the commissioning of that section of the road, and at the same time changed to run five services per day on opposite sides of the road to tie in with the visiting hours of Cheshire Home.
  • 1 August 2006: Further extended from Stanley Village to Chai Wan Station to facilitate the reorganisation of Hong Kong Island GMB Route 16 series. [2]
  • 22 January 2017: The special trip of Route 16M from Cheshire Home to Chai Wan departing at at 19:30 daily was changed to operate under the name of this route. [3]
  • 3 June 2018: Departure from Chai Wan at 19:00 was cancelled.
  • 25 June 2021: Real-time Arrival Information System was introduced to this route.[4]
