The User Offence Policy and Blocking is a policy to make people aware of the rules and their consequences. Users should read this policy before editing.
Warnings and reminders are for administrators to remind users to correct their mistakes. Blocking is a means for administrators to prevent users from participating in the editing of EBTHK, which is also known as banning or censoring.
The sole purpose of banning and warning is to protect the purpose, prevent vandalism and guarantee the user's privileges, and should never be used to penalise the user. However, they are not limited to these cases, especially if they are specifically provided for in other guidelines. However, while the cases listed in the table below are relatively less controversial, other cases of blocking are more likely to be controversial, and if there is uncertainty, the block should not be enforced or other administrators should be consulted before the block is enforced.
Users can report acts violating rules in the Vandalism Report Area, and should provide sufficient evidence to do so. However, administrators have the right to refuse to enforce proposed bans and may conduct independent investigations.
Conditions that require warnings or blocks[]
Warning Guidelines[]
Minor offences: These are behaviours that break the rules but are less serious, first offenders will be reminded of the rules, and for repeated offences a warning or a block not exceeding one week can be imposed.
Type of offence | Description |
---|---|
Improper uploading of files stored in this site | Uploading pictures, audio-visuals or other files that are completely unrelated to the content of the articles or that relate to the privacy of individuals |
Uploading files but not processing them | Files uploaded but not processed (e.g., placed in pages, image libraries, etc.) |
Violation of Editing Guidelines | Users repeatedly violate editing guidelines when editing (e.g. uploading files with the camera's built-in default camera name or meaningless words). |
Editing conflicts | A user's edits repeatedly cause editing conflicts for others. |
Excessive links | Inserting lots of redundant internal links in the editor |
Additions and deletions | (Unintentional) addition or deletion of spaces, blank lines and other meaningless words in editing |
Abuse of visual edits | Destruction of the source code structure when using the Visual Editor |
Negligent vandalism | User editing inadvertently causes corruption on other pages (e.g., template modification fails without being detected) |
False reports | No apparent reason and/or no concrete evidence to report the user |
Constantly changing header pictures of buses | Constantly changing the header pictures of buses in articles to meet individual requirements. |
Meaningless posts | The act of posting meaningless threads, such as nonsense threads, or threads with only a random word or number as the title and no other content |
Pretending (not impersonating) administrators | Non-admin users pretending to have the power to punish others, e.g. by warning bans, sending warnings to users, etc. |
Violation of neutrality | Our goal is to maintain a neutral point of view. We should aim to present all sides of an argument fairly, rather than pointing out or implying that any one side is correct in an article. If you have a negative opinion about something, it's best to keep it to your personal page or discussion boards, rather than on regular pages |
Foul language | Use of unfiltered foul language, but it is possible to replace some of the words in the foul language with asterisks, tic-tac-toe symbols, etc. (If you need to add words to an article when editing it, or if you find foul language when editing it, please contact an administrator to take care of it, and don't try to force the editing.) |
Blocking Guidelines[]
Moderate offences: The offence is considered more serious but not so serious as to warrant a permanent block, which may result in a user violating the rules of this category being blocked immediately without warning. Depending on the severity of the offence, a warning may be issued instead of a block.
