The Hin Keng Bus Terminus (顯徑巴士總站) is located in the open-air area between Hin Yau House and Hin Keng Shopping Centre in Hin Keng Estate, Tai Wai, Sha Tin District, New Territories, near the end of Che Kung Temple Road and the Shatin Water Treatment Works. It is equipped with five sets of parallel. The platform parking area is only for franchised buses.

In addition, the bus terminus has a green minibus stop on Che Kung Temple Road outside the Hin Keng Stadium, which is also described in this article.

History[]

In the past, Hin Tin Estate was at the end of Che Kung Temple Road. As early as 1976, the Route 88 line had provided bus services in the area. The bus terminus was located outside Hin Tin Estate and was called "Hin Tin Bus Terminus".

In the early 1980s, the government built a large number of public housing in Tai Wai, and Hin Keng Estate was one of them. It was designated as a resettlement estate for residents of 26 problem public housing estates. In order to build Hin Keng Estate, the government moved the original Hin Tin Estate to the east. Route 88K which was put into service in 1982 was changed to park on-street opposite the current "Hin Tin Estate" intermediate stop.

The Hin Keng Estate was occupied in 1986, and the attached "Hin Keng Bus Terminus" was completed in 1988 25 March[1]. Hin Keng Estate is some distance away from Tai Wai Railway Station, so many bus routes were detoured through Hin Keng Estate, and some routes used Hin Keng Estate as their terminus, including KMB Route 88K which was split from Route 88 and was renamed after the Kowloon-Canton Railway was electrified.

According to the planning of the Sha Tin to Central Link, the government would build Hin Keng Station next to Hin Tin Recreation Ground, opposite Hin Keng Bus Terminus. It has been launched in 14 January 2020 was opened with the Tuen Ma Line Phase 1.

Although the board box of Green Minibus routes shows "Hin Keng" as the terminus, the actual location of the terminus is outside Hin Tin Estate. Some of the routes pass through Hin Keng Sports Centre outside the bus terminus.

The bus then ran onto the pavement and hit a lamppost, two telephone booths and an 8m-tall tree. Fortunately, no one was injured.

Bus Captain Incidents[]

  • 2011: A Route 88M Volvo Olympian (AV457/HT2591) was suspected of competing with the taxi. The taxi driver took advantage of the bus being below the stop to get on the bus at the stop for arguing.
