The Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point Public Transport Interchange (香園圍邊境管制站公共運輸交匯處 , Citybus Location Code HYW)[2] is located on the ground floor of the Passenger Clearance Building at Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point (BCP) in the North District of New Territories. It is located on the ground floor of the Heung Yuen Wai BCP, Heung Yuen Wai, New Territories.
The public transport interchange is an indoor design with three sections: north, south-east and south-west, of which the south-west section is shared by franchised buses and green minibuses. The station is named "Heung Yuen Wai Port" (香園圍口岸) by NWFB and Citybus; and the same name is used by KMB in Chinese, except for English which they used "Heung Yuen Wai Control Point".[Remark 1]
The passenger section of the Heung Yuen Wai BCP came into operation on 6 February 2023, when Citybus Route B7 and New Territories GMB Route 59S came into service on the same day. Geographically, this station is the northernmost bus terminus of Citybus in Hong Kong.
Unlike other land BCPs connecting with Shenzhen, the PTI at the Heung Yuen Wai BCP is not part of the Frontier Closed Area and passengers are not required to possess a Closed Area Permit or a valid travel document when entering or leaving the PTI.[3]
History[]
In 2009, the Government proposed the construction of a "co-location" control point building at Chuk Yuen Village, Ta Kwu Ling, and the reprovisioning of the entire Chuk Yuen Village[4]. In the same year, the two sides agreed at the third meeting of the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Joint Task Force on Boundary District Development on a programme to commence construction in 2013 for completion in 2018. The Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) engaged consultants to carry out an investigation and preliminary design study, which is expected to be completed in December 2011. The whole project will commence in May 2013 and is expected to be completed in October 2017. [5]
After several cost overruns and delays, the opening of the Heung Yuen Wai BCP was deferred to 26 August 2020 for cargo clearance and 6 February 2023 for passenger clearance.
First "direct access" land control station for pedestrians and vehicles[]
Designed by Ronald Lu & Partners, the 178,575 square metre HKBCF is planned and built with a "direct access" concept for passengers to cross the boundary by franchised buses, green minibuses, cross-boundary coaches, taxis, or even on their own private cars[6]. There are 419 public parking spaces in the mezzanine floor of the Control Point, which are restricted to vehicles entering the Control Point by way of a reserved parking service so as to prevent vehicles from filling up the surrounding streets.

Terminus Layout and Facilities[]
The public transport interchange is divided into three parts: north, southeast and southwest. The southeast part has a non-franchised bus pick-up area and a bus drop-off area, while the southwest part has a franchised bus pick-up area and a green minibus terminus. There is also a taxi stand and a taxi drop-off area to the north of the terminal.
All franchised bus routes terminating at this stop will first drop off passengers at the non-franchised bus pick-up/drop-off area before returning to the franchised bus pick-up area for scheduled bus stops.
Please note that the stop may be temporarily or permanently altered at any time due to other factors (e.g. road works).
