Citybus currently has 323 Enviro500 buses, including 10 fleet number prefixes 81 and 12-meter versions with luggage racks (which will be gradually removed from 2021) and 210 fleet number prefixes 81, 82 and 83 versions (purchased in four batches: 18+44+33+115). Among them, three buses with fleet numbers starting with 82 were North Lantau-specific versions from 2012 to 2020. They were equipped with luggage racks and wore the Cityflyer livery. As for the buses introduced from NWFB in response to the merger of Citybus and NWFB franchises in 2023, they include 20 11.3m versions with fleet numbers starting with 40 and 83 12m versions with fleet numbers starting with 55 (purchased in four batches: 18+ 24+13+28).

The Citybus Enviro500 fleet is large, accounting for nearly 25% of the entire fleet. If measured by a single length, the Enviro500 once had the highest number of low floor buses in Citybus's franchised fleet. This record has been broken by its successor model, the Enviro500 MMC.

Each batch of buses is allocated to different bus depots, the details are as follows:

  • Chai Wan Depot (E): 8100-8202, 8235-8319
  • West Kowloon Depot: 8203→26, 8204-8234 (Even if this batch of buses are non-franchised, they still have the N depot logo on them)

Vehicle Improvement Project[]

Citybus began to vehiclery out a number of vehicle improvement projects in batches for the Enviro500 buses that have been put into service since February 2017, including:

  • Addition of guardrails to the Alighting Doors of all buses to ensure passenger safety;
  • In view of the "wheel-throwing" incident that occurred in Citybus in 2016, all the hoods were removed, the center of the hoods was cut off and reinstalled so that the engineering department could check the wheel screws, so the hoods turned into rims;
  • In view of the reorganisation of Chow Tai Fook Group on 15 November, 2016, and the resale of the remaining equity to NWS Holdings [1], the "Chow Tai Fook Enterprises and NWS Group Members" stickers are no longer affixed on the left and right sides of the vehicle. A sticker with "Member of NWS Holdings" was replaced[2]. However, due to the sale of NWS Holdings' transportation business in August 2020, “Member of NWS Holdings” stickers were gradually removed as a result.
  • Starting from the end of 2019, 8205-8319 gradually replaced the original purple LED lighting system with a warm colour lighting system.

11.3M Version[]

4020-4039/41000-41019[]

Chassis Number: SFD369LR49GTJ

NWFB ordered 20 more Enviro500 11.3m in 2009 to replace the 14 Dennis Condor 11M (DA37-50) that were launched in 1993 and the remaining 6 Leyland Olympian 11M (LA20-25). The main differences between this batch of buses and previous batch of buses are as follows:

  • This batch of buses is changed to use Cummins ISL8.9E5340B Euro V engine and ZF Ecomat 4 6HP604C gearbox.
  • The ZF Ecomat 4 6HP604C gearbox of this batch of buses is equipped with a TopoDyn function (the bus will rotate the gearbox during low engine speed when starting to reduce exhaust gas, but it will result in slow acceleration and poor driving performance).
  • The upper front of the vehicle is equipped with a newly designed inverted trapezoidal TV Cover.
  • The entrances of the oil cylinder and AdBlue cylinder are not covered.
  • Due to the closure of the door manufacturer Deans during the production of this batch of vehicles, 4023-4025, 4027, 4029, 4031-4039 switched to the Dutch Ventura door with transverse push-type Alighting Door, and the remaining vehicles continued to use the British Deans Door with transverse push-type centre door.

This batch of buses continues to have their bodies assembled by Shenzhen Wuzhoulong, and is also the last batch of NWFB's 11.3m Enviro500s to be assembled at the factory.

The plates of the first two buses (4020 and 4021) were issued on 16 March, 2010. The remaining buses were also put into service from March 2010 to April 2010. Initially, they mainly traveled the Eastern District route. However, since 2017, in response to the Dennis Trident 10.6m/11.3m (14XX and 16XX) from Wong Chuk Hang Depot being retired one after another due to their age, New World First Bus has transferred these vehicles to the Southern District, to replace the old vehicles with its seats replaced by the newly ordered Enviro500 MMC 11.3m (4052-4091).

At the end of 2016, the side covers of these buses were removed, and in early 2017, a hole was made in the center of the side cover and reinstalled so that the screws in the centre of the axle could be inspected. At the beginning of 2017, protective barriers were gradually added to the drop-down doors of all Enviro500 buses (including this batch).

Starting from 1 July 2023, all vehicles have been transferred to the Citybus fleet. Starting from October 2023, in response to the unification and integration of Citybus fleet numbers, 4020-4039 will be changed to 41000-41019.

Chassis Number: SFD169NR4AGTH

New World First Bus ordered 24 more Enviro500 12 meters in 2010 to replace the first 18 Volvo Olympian 11M (VA1-18) and Dennis Condor 11M (DA51 -56). The main differences between this batch of buses and previous batch are as follows:

  • Switch to Cummins ISL8.9E5340BEuro V engine and ZF Ecomat 4 6HP604C gearbox.
  • Switch to use Dutch Ventura doors with horizontal push-type center doors.
  • The ZF Ecomat 4 6HP604C gearbox is equipped with a TopoDyn function (the bus will rotate at low engine speeds when starting to reduce exhaust gases, but this results in slow acceleration, poor driving performance, and dissatisfaction of the bus captain).
  • The entrances of the oil cylinder and AdBlue cylinder are not covered.
  • The upper front of the vehicle is equipped with a newly designed inverted trapezoidal TV reserve component.
  • The upper front windshield does not have black TV Screen.
  • The vehicleriage staircase has been changed from the original straight staircase design to a curved staircase design. The number of seats on the upper and lower floors has been increased by 2 and 4 respectively, while the number of seats has been reduced by 1.
  • Changed to use Hanover Orange LED Route Display
  • The upper command light at the rear of the vehicle is changed from one headlight and one small light to two headlights.
  • There is a reverse CCTV at the rear of the vehicle.
  • The oil cylinder is divided into two and located in front of the left and right middle wheels.

This batch of buses continues to have their bodies assembled by Shenzhen Wuzhoulong, and is also the last batch of NWFB 12M Enviro500s assembled by this factory.

The first bus (5518) was on its maiden service on Route 8P on 25 January 2011, and the remaining 23 buses also arrived in February 2011. All license plates were issued in May 2011, mainly on routes passing through the Franchised Bus Low Emission Zone.

One of the buses went to Discovery Bay for road testing before the license plate was issued.[3]

At the end of 2016, the side covers of these buses were removed, and in early 2017, a hole was made in the center of the side cover and reinstalled so that the screws in the center of the axle could be inspected. At the beginning of 2017, protective barriers were gradually added to the Alighting Doors of all Enviro500 buses (including this batch).

Starting from 1 July, 2023, all vehicles have been transferred to the Citybus fleet. Starting from October 2023, in response to the unification and integration of Citybus fleet numbers, 5518-5541 will be changed to 51155-51178.

NWFB orded these 13 Enviro500 12M in 2011 to replace 13 Volvo Super Olympian 11M (VA19-31). These buses compared to the previous generation of Enviro500 have the follow changes:

  • The upper front of these buses has canceled the inverted trapezoidal TV component commonly known as undercarriages and replaced it with an oval Stop Announcement Display Machine component.[4], also pre-installed the Automatic Bus Stop Announcement & Data Logger System for the first batch of buses.
  • The black switches on the air-conditioning and radiator tank vents on both sides of the car body are exposed, and the distance between the ventilation flaps is relatively wide (therefore, a small-hole wire mesh needs to be added).
  • These buses are equipped with a Dynamic Bus Stop List.
  • The carriages were changed to a light purple LED lighting system, and then replaced with a warm lighting system from the end of 2019.
  • The corridor and Wheelchair area area on the floor are changed to Dark-Blue Color.
  • A CCTV system is installed next to the driver's seat to monitor the situation outside the vehicle.

The first three buses (5542-5544) were put into service on 21 May, 2012[5] on the First Departures of Routes 2X and 8P, and all other buses will be licensed in May 2012.

Zhuhai Guangtong Bus is responsible for assembling the body of these buses. All buses were not equipped with buzplay screens when they were issued. They were later installed one after another, and the relevant projects were completed in early August 2014.

At the end of 2016, the side covers of these buses were removed, and in early 2017, a hole was made in the center of the side cover and reinstalled so that the screws in the center of the axle could be inspected. At the beginning of 2017, protective barriers were gradually added to the drop-down doors of all Enviro500 buses (including this batch).

In February 2020, there was news that 5 of these buses (5550-5554) will be converted into open-top buses to replace the 5 old Rickshaw Sightseeing Buses: Dennis Trident 12M open-top buses (1215-1219).[6][7][8]. After the first bus 5550 was refitted, it took the lead in trial operation in Shau Kei Wan at the end of April of the same year[9], and then went to To Kwa Wan for vehicle inspection on 7 May. This vehicle has been repainted in the livery of the Rickshaw Sightseeing Bus.[10]5551 and 5552 were also refitted at Chong Fu Road Depot.[11] On 1 October of the same year, these three buses were officially put into operation on Routes H1 and H2. After this modification, the middle seat at the rear of the upper deck of the bus was removed (the rear seats were reduced from 5 to 4), the passenger capacity of the bus was reduced by 1 person, and a double-layered small luggage rack was added above the left head axis; 5553 and 5554 were not modified due to limited service on Routes H1 and H2 and sufficient vehicle supply.

Starting from 1 July, 2023, all vehicles have been transitioned to Citybus. Starting from October 2023, in response to the unification and integration of Citybus fleet numbers, 5542-5549 and 5553-5554 will be changed to 51179-51188, and 5550-5552 will be changed to 59900-59902.

NWFB ordered a batch of 28 Enviro500 12M in 2012[12], being the last order of Enviro500 12M in the world, replacing 17 Volvo Olympian 11M (VA32-48), 10 Dennis Dragons (DA57-66, DA93-96), and a Dennis Dart 10.7M (2028) that was retired early due to an accident. The main differences between this batch of buses and previous batch of buses are as follows:

  • The first two rows of seats behind stairs (i.e. opposite the drop-off door) are each equipped with an armrest that reaches directly to the ceiling (the armrest of the first row of seats is also equipped with a Stop Bell Button).
  • There is a horizontal handrail at the window edge of the first window behind the lower door on the left and the third window behind the stairs on the right.

The first two buses (5557, 5558) were put into service on 29 January, 2013, and maiden departure on Routes 2,2A, 2X, 682, 905, and other buses were also put into service from February 2013 to May 2013.

Zhuhai Guangtong Bus was responsible for assembling the body of these buses. All buses were not equipped with buzplay screens when they were issued. They were later installed one after another, and the relevant projects were completed in early August 2014.

5571/RZ841 and 5572/RZ3683 were tested the new Automatic Bus Stop Announcement System, and the vehicles concerned were later arranged by New World First Bus to run separately on Routes 112 and 8P[13]. It was dismantled after the test was completed.

Starting in 2020, these buses will gradually replace their original purple LED lighting systems with warm-color lighting systems. The relevant project was completed in April of the same year.

From June to July 2020, 5555-5558 was converted into training buses, and the number was changed to T38-T41.

From November to December 2022, 5574, 5577, 5581, 5582 were also modified For training buses, the numbers are changed to T42-T45 respectively.[14]

Starting from 1 July, 2023, all vehicles have been transitioned to Citybus. Starting from October 2023, in response to the unification and integration of Citybus fleet numbers, 5559-5573, 5575-5576, and 5578-5580 will be changed to 51189-51208.

8100-8109[]

Chassis Number: SFD158LR47GTF/SFD159LR47GTF Citybus and NWFB announced in August 2007 that it would spend HK$150 million to launch the "Blue Sky Project"[15], implementing a series of Emission reduction and environmental protection measures include spending HKD$100 Million to purchase 28 Enviro500 Euro IV 12M buses, of which 10 were purchased by Citybus and the remaining 18 belonged to New World First Bus (5500-5517).

Among these new cars, 9 use Voith DIWA 864.5 gearbox, and the other 19 use ZF Ecomat 2 5HP602C gearbox. When allocating chassis, it was originally planned that New World First Bus nine chassis would use Voith DIWA 864.5 gearbox (chassis serial number 1920-1928, of which 1924 became New World First Bus 5500), and the rest 9 Chassis use ZF Ecomat 2 5HP602C gearbox (chassis number 1937-1945, namely New World Bus's 5501-5507). All Citybus Chassis use ZF Ecomat 2 5HP602C gearbox. box (chassis number 1960-1969, i.e. 5508-5517 of New World Bus). However, Citybus urgently needed new buses to be put on Shenzhen Bay Port Routes, so New World First Bus allocates the chassis that arrived in Hong Kong earlier to Citybus, that is, 8 Voith DIWA 864.5 gearboxes chassis originally belonging to New World First Bus (chassis numbers 1920-1923, 1925-1928, namely 8100-8107 of Citybus) and Two ZF Ecomat 2 5HP602C gearboxes Chassis (chassis numbers 1943 and 1940, namely 8108 and 8109 of Citybus) were transferred to the Citybus fleet.

The bus is equipped with the Cummins ISLe-340B Euro IV engine, Voith DIWA 864.5 four-speed gearbox (8108 and 8109 are equipped with ZF Ecomat 2 5HP602C six-speed gearbox), and adopts Selective Catalytic Reducer (SCR) technology reduces harmful suspended particles and nitrogen oxides by 94% and 56% respectively compared to EU Type 1 vehicles. At the same time, for the first time, a automatic fire extinguisher] is added to the engine room Device[16].

In terms of interiors, these buses use LITEVision orange light-emitting diodes (LEDs) electronic route displays, British Deans doors with horizontal push-type middle doors, Lazzerini City New Creation purple imitation leather with NW lettering New Creation Seats, Straight stairs, yellow concave and convex patterns handrails and light purple carriage colors. The rear of the car is equipped with Reversing CCTV, and for the first time, there is a [[Alighting Bell] next to the Next Stop Announcement Machine component of the Bus Captain's Cabin's red light, the car manufacturer's logo is added to the nose of the car and an aluminum plate is added to the rear hood with the words "Envrio500" engraved on it.

The first batch of chassis arrived in Hong Kong in mid-September 2007 and were assembled into the body at New World First BusChong Fu Road Depot (it was also the last batch to be shipped in parts (Completely- knocked-down','CKD) delivery, and Citybus new cars assembled in Hong Kong). The first two buses (8100 and 8101) were issued in December, with the fleet number starting with 81, and were immediately deployed to two new Shenzhen Bay Port Routes B3 and B3X, when the license plates were issued, body advertisements are covered on all sides of the car body to promote its Euro IV emission standards characteristics[17]. In order to take into account the needs of Shenzhen Bay Port transit passengers, these buses are also equipped with luggage racks, and the upper floors are equipped with closed-circuit television screens to monitor luggage racks on the lower floors.

The remaining buses were also put into service from December 2007 to January 2008. They were initially under the jurisdiction of Tuen Mun Depot (N) and mainly traveled in the northwest New Territories cross-harbour routes such as 930, 962, 969, etc. They were soon transferred to the Shenzhen West Express Routes B3, B3A, and B3X. Later, the Enviro500 MMC (8491-8506) equipped with luggage racks were arranged to travel on the Shenzhen West Express, and these vehicles were transferred back to the northwest New Territories cross-harbour route. It occasionally runs urban routes, and the luggage rack on the lower deck of the bus is still retained to support the Shenzhen West Express lines when necessary.

In August 2017, these buses were transferred to Chai Wan Depot (E), mainly traveling Southern District routes such as Routes 48, 70, 90, 96, 97 and 671, and became reserves on Route A10[18][19].

Starting from September 2020, Citybus has successively replaced the original LITEVision electric displays for this batch with Hanover LEDs (Orange) Electronic Displays. The relevant works have been completed. It was completed the following month. The first one to change the electric plate is 8100/NC7577.[20]

Like NWFB’s latest batch of overdue vehicles, this batch of buses will no longer serve passengers as the main service target, and Citybus will gradually arrange them to have their luggage racks replaced with extra seating starting from late March 2021, so that the passenger capacity was consistent with Enviro500 12M (5500-5517) in the same New World First Bus order. The first bus to be modified is 8100/NC7577.

In 2022, Citybus suspended the registration and closure of all Euro IV buses.

Citybus ordered 18 more Enviro500 12-meter buses in 2008. There were rumors on the Internet that these buses were equipped with luggage racks to replace the luxury version Dennis Trident 12M (2100-2161) on Cityflyer routes[21]. These buses were all eventually urban versions, replacing 18 Leyland Olympian 12M (342-344, 346-359) that were over 16 years old and 1 Lion NL262 11.7M (1512) which was retired due to burning.

The main differences between the new batch of 18 buses and the previous batch are as follows:

  • Fully adopts ZF Ecomat 4 6HP604C gearbox.
  • The oil cylinder is divided into two and located in front of the left and right middle wheels.
  • The upper door uses Deans' new small frame door, and the armrest design has also been improved.
  • The carriage stairs is changed to a curved staircase design.
  • The upper command light at the rear of the car is changed from one headlight and one small light to two headlights.
  • There is no luggage rack in the lower compartment.
  • Electronic Route Display switched to Hanover orange light-emitting diode (LED) electronic signs.

In order to save costs, the factory decided to move the assembly process from Hong Kong to Shenzhen, China, and entered into a body assembly agreement with Shenzhen Wuzhoulong Automobile Co., Ltd. on 9 July, 2008. Therefore, these buses together with the first 20 New World First Bus Enviro500 11.3M (4000-4019) were assembled by Wuzhoulong. Starting from this batch, all new buses in the future will be delivered in the form of complete assembly ('Completely Built Up ', CBU). Wuzhoulong once issued a press release during the summer vacation claiming that it could be shipped by the end of 2008. Relevant staff from NWS Holdings revealed that the assembled buses failed to pass the water leakage test. Citybus and NWFB refused to accept the vehicles and asked Wuzhoulong to re-inspect the entire batch of buses and carry out remedial work. However, the problem was still unresolved after the 2009 Lunar New Year. NWS Holdings then decided to arrange for a batch ordered by Citybus to be shipped to Hong Kong starting from March 2009, and then Citybus would dispatch technical personnel to solve the problem.

The first three buses were not officially ready until mid-May. However, before they were officially deployed, it was discovered that the cash boxes had been swapped. The engineering staff mistakenly changed the New World First Bus and Citybus's cash boxes, so they weren't ready for deployment, so it needed to be reassembled, and it would not officially carry passengers until the end of the same month.

This batch of buses began to be put into service in May 2009, and the maiden voyage on Routes 102 and 619.

In 2022, Citybus will suspend the registration and closure of all Euro IV buses.

Citybus ordered 44 more Enviro500 12M buses in 2009, and later ordered 33 more buses to replace the remaining 36 Leyland Olympian 10.4/12M (208-211, 360-377, 379-380, 382-384, 388-395) buses that would be 17 years old, 32 Volvo Olympian 12M (396-426) bought in 1994 and 7 Dennis Dragon 12M (801-807).

Shenzhen Wuzhoulong is still responsible for the body assembly process of this batch of buses. It is also the last batch of Citybus Enviro500 12M buses to be assembled at the factory. The main differences from the previous batch are as follows:

  • This batch of buses uses the Cummins ISL8.9E5340B Euro V engines and Dutch Ventura doors with transverse sliding doors.
  • The ZF Ecomat 4 6HP604C gearbox of these buses was equipped with a TopoDyn function, which allowed the bus to rotate at low engine speeds when starting to reduce exhaust emissions. However, this resulted in slow acceleration, affected driving performance, and caused dissatisfaction among the bus captains.[22]
  • The bus tank and ammonia tank inlets are not covered.
  • The front of the upper deck is equipped with a newly designed inverted trapezoidal TV set-up (commonly known as "底褲" by bus fans).
  • The upper front windscreen does not have a black TV cover.

The first two buses (8128 and 8129) were put into service on 7 May 2010 and made their maiden trip on Route 102. The remaining buses were all licensed between May 2010 and January 2011.

At the beginning of the service, 8128-8180 were assigned to Chai Wan Depot (E) to serve the urban areas and cross-harbour routes on Hong Kong Island, while 8194-8202 were assigned to Fo Tan Depot (N) to serve the cross-harbour routes in the Northeast New Territories. Subsequently, a batch of Volvo Olympian 12M (413-426, 505-510) was decommissioned from Fo Tan Depot (N), and 8181-8193 were transferred from Chai Wan Depot (E) to Fo Tan Depot (N). On 1 January 2014 Fo Tan Depot (N) was officially closed down, and the original maintenance work was transferred to West Kowloon Depot (N), and 8181-8202 were transferred to West Kowloon Depot (N). As a result, 8202 was transferred to Chai Wan Depot (E) and was given priority to operate the second section of the route (all registered under Franchise (1)).[23][24]

8203/PR7978 and 8204/PR8372 were assigned to the franchise (2) Tung Chung Depot (T) to serve Route E21A to avoid appearing at Airport. In response to the opening of Route A29 in September 2011, 8203/PR7978 and 8204/PR8372 were painted with red and yellow colours of the Cityflyer. The paintwork replaces only the blue colour of Citybus' standard paintwork with the date red colour of the Cityflyer, with the affixing of the Cityflyer logo, the addition of baggage racks and the closed-circuit television system connected to the luggage racks. The two buses are now in the red and yellow colours of the Cityflyer. The two buses were returned to standard Citybus livery and the luggage racks were removed in December 2013, and were diverted to Routes E21A, S52 and S56[25] and will also support routes in the 962 series during peak hours.

8203 was converted to an open-top bus in October 2020, replacing the Dennis Trident 12M open-top bus (25), which was put in full Panda Bus advertising. After 8203 was converted to an open-top bus, the upper front windscreen was partially cut down to a full-open-top design[26]The buses are being retrofitted at the depot. The bus has been painted to mimic the AEC Routemaster (1) colour scheme, and the fleet number has been changed to 26. At the request of the Transport Department (TD), the middle seat at the rear of the upper deck of the bus had to be removed (reducing the number of rear seats from 5 to 4), and the standing space has been removed (although the wheelchair space is retained (due to the placement of fire extinguishers in the backrest of the wheelchair parking space), but the wheelchairs are not included. backrest), but wheelchair users still have to cross the seat to avoid an offence), and the addition of a small double-decker luggage rack above the left headstock. The bus was first used on Route 88R in the evening of 19 December 2020, and was used to officiate at the opening ceremony of the Tuen Mun Chek Lap Kok Tunnel Road on 26 December In October 2022, the Transport Department approved the use of this bus on the Rickshaw Tourist Sightseeing Bus routes as a back-up bus for routes H1 and H2. On 22 October of the same year, the bus operated the Special Route H1W.

8204 was suspended from January 2021 until October of the same year, when it will be transferred to the Non-Franchised Departmemt along with the next batch of 8208, and the Division will be cancelled[27]. Although wheelchair spaces were retained (as fire extinguishers were placed in the backrest of the wheelchair area), wheelchair users were still required to cross the chair to avoid offences. Later in September 2023, 8204 was converted into an open-top bus, and in December 2023, it returned to service. After conversion, the vehicle was able to operate Rickshaw Tourist Bus routes as a reserve for H1 and H2 routes. On 25 December of the same year, this bus operated the special Route H2K. [28]

In September 2011, Citybus replaced the license plate of 8170 from the original PK7344 to the Leyland Olympian 11m (No. 127)’s old license plate EM6616 is the first Citybus Enviro500 to change its license plate and reuse the old license plate. Its license plate was changed to WV7560 on July 15, 2020, and the EM6616 license plate was transplanted to Enviro500 MMC 40th Anniversary Retro Bus (9149)[29].

Starting from October 2023, in response to the unification and integration of Citybus fleet numbers, 8128-8202 will be changed to 51000-51074, while the remaining two buses (26 and 8204) will be changed to 50900-50901.

Citybus ordered an additional 115 Enviro500 12m buses in 2011, including one Enviro500 MMC 12m Demonstrator (8320)[30] to replace 51 Volvo Olympian 12m (430-474, 505-510), 37 ex-Stagecoach Dennis Dragon 12m (811-845, 850, 854) issued in 1995, 10 Volvo Olympian 10.4m (239-248), 14 MAN NL262 11.7m (1501, 1502, 1504 , 1506, 1508, 1510, 1513, 1532, 1537-1539, 1550, 1555, 1558) and Volvo B6LE 10.6m (1340-1343) belonging to the second operation department. The main differences between this batch of buses and the previous batch of buses are as follows:

  • The upper front of these buses has canceled the inverted trapezoidal TV component commonly known as "底褲" and replaced it with an oval Next Stop Announcer.
  • The black switches on the air-conditioning and radiator tank vents on both sides of the car body were exposed, and the distance between the ventilation flaps were made relatively wide (therefore, it is necessary to add small-hole wire mesh).
  • These buses were equipped with Motion Bus Stop Displays.
  • The passenger cabin was changed to have a light purple LED lighting system.
  • The corridors on the floor and the Wheelchair Parking Area were changed to dark blue.
  • A CCTV system was installed next to the driver's seat to monitor the situation outside the vehicle.

Zhuhai Guangtong Bus is responsible for assembling the body of these buses.

The first four buses (8208-8211) were put into service on 4 June 2012, and the remaining buses were all issued between June 2012 and March 2013.

8208-8319 were all assigned to Chai Wan Depot (E) (all registered under Operations Department 1) when they were issued to travel on Hong Kong Island urban and cross-harbour routes. However, 8208-8240 was subsequently transferred to Tuen Mun Depot (N), traveling on the northwest New Territories cross-harbour routes and the Shenzhen Bay Port Routes, but was transferred back to Chai Wan Depot (E) in 2016. As for the remaining 8205-8207, they were assigned to Operations Department (2) Siu Ho Wan Depot (T), and the red and yellow livery of Cityflyer was affixed when the license plate was issued [31], equipped with luggage rack and a closed-circuit television system connected to luggage rack to replace Route S1 replacing the Volvo Olympian 12m (427-429), and is used as a fixed backup for Cityflyer.

None of these buses were equipped with buzplay screens when they were issued license plates. They were later installed (except for 8205-8207), and the relevant work was completed in early August 2014.

In 2020, there was news that 8205-8235 were to transfer to the non-franchised department starting from July of the same year.[32] to replace the Dennis Trident 10.3/12m (25, 881-894, 2312-2316) and Volvo Super Olympian 12m (249 -269)[33]. Among them, 8222 (originally planned to be 8207) has been repainted with retro paint[34]. In addition, 8205 was originally planned to be converted into an open-top bus, but it was finally decided to use the previous batch of 8203.[35] Since Citybus later ordered a Vichiton WSD6120CR2HEV, and also urgently needed to replace the 12.8-meter (6448) vacancy of the Enviro500 MMC that had been retired due to arson, the transfer of 8235 was not arranged. Since there was no further news about the single-decker bus, Citybus finally arranged for the transfer of 8235, and it will be shown to people with a new painting and a new fleet number of 50002 in January 2024. At present, the bus has been transferred to the non-franchised department for service.

8205-8207 are the first batch of Cityflyer buses transferred to the non-franchised department[36]with the three buses having their luggage racks gradually removed in June 2020[37]. However, as of late November, the three buses were still parked at Disneyland, and no preparations had been made to transfer.

In January 2021, 8206/RL4470 was painted with the Citybus body paint of the 1990s, and the old Citybus logo was affixed. Citybus and "Ghost Eater" logos were also affixed to the top and left and right sides of the front plate box.[38]After the bus body painting was changed, it ran on Routes E22C and E22A in the evening of 9 February, 2021[39], it was not until March of the same year that it was transferred to the non-franchised department. 8205/RL3936 was sprayed with Citybus standard livery in February. 8207/RL2513 had its body repainted in March, and the original Cityflyer logo was replaced by a red Citybus logo. The bus was traveling on Routes S56 and S52 on the evening of 11 March, 2021, when it was transferred to the non-franchised department on 1 April of the same year. 8223/RL6869 is the first bus transferred to the non-franchised department, and has been issued a passenger service license.[40], making its maiden trip on Route 88R on 1 August 2020.

Some of the buses transferred to the non-franchised department had their license plates replaced by the license plates from former New World First Bus/Citybus Volvo Super Olympian 12m. The details are as follows:

  • 8233 was equipped with the license plate "AH4134" (from the former NWFB 5081/Citybus 250) in November 2020.

[41]

  • 8219 was equipped the license plate "CD2198" in January 2021 (From NWFB 5083/Citybus 252).
  • 8232 and 8234 were equipped license plates "AH4072" and "AH4194" respectively in February 2021 (from the former NWFB 5082 and 5086/Citybus 251 and 255).
  • 8205, 8206 and 8207 were equipped with license plates "AC4723", "AD4589" and "AC4764" respectively in March and April 2021 (from the Ex-NWFB 5080, 5084, 5085/Citybus 249, 253, 254).
  • 8222 was equipped with the license plate "HE152" in April 2021 (from Former Citybus 258 and 575).

In August 2023, 8236-8239 were converted into Training Buses and renumbered to T46-T49 to replace the early retired Young Man JNP6105GR Training Buses (T34-T37).

Starting from October 2023, in response to Citybus' unification of fleet numbers, 8205-8235 under the Non-Franchised Department will be changed to 50000-50030, while 8240-8319 will be changed to 51075-51154.

On the afternoon of 20 December, 2023, 8206, a bus dressed in the retro Citybus livery of the 1990s caught fire near Pak Tam Chung in Sai Kung due to a suspected short circuit and the rear of the bus was burned.[42][43]
