The DB Plaza (愉景廣場) Bus Terminus is an open-air bus terminus with parallel platform configuration, is located on the ground floor of DB Plaza Extension (Phase 6 of Discovery Bay) at 8-12 Plaza Lane, Discovery Bay, Lantau Island, New Territories, between Discovery Bay Ferry Pier, D'Deck and Discovery Bay Business Centre.

History

In early 2016, Hong Kong Resort (HKRI), the developer of Discovery Bay, launched the "Discovery Bay Enhancement Programme", which includes, among other things, the expansion of DB Plaza at the original site of Discovery Bay Pier Bus Terminus and the construction of a new terminus on the top floor of the extension . According to HKRI, the new terminus would provide 30% more bus parking space than the old terminus, and its vehicular access will be more convenient for double-decked buses than the old terminus.

The Discovery Bay Transit Services Limited (DBTSL) later announced the closure of the Discovery Bay Pier Bus Terminus with effect from 3:00 a.m. on 25 February 2017 for the commencement of the DB Plaza expansion project. After two years of construction work, the bus terminus on the top floor of the DB Plaza Extension would take shape in February 2019.

DBTSL then announced the commissioning of the new bus terminus on 13 April 2019, named "DB Plaza Bus Terminus". All external routes, Route DB04R, Golf Club Shuttle Buses and Auberge Discovery Bay Hong Kong shuttle buses that start and end at DB Plaza Bus Terminus will be relocated to DB Plaza Bus Terminus at 12:00 noon, and routes that used to stop at 2 La Costa or Vista Avenue intermediate stops (except Route DB02R late-night trips to the Airport and Route S7) would also be diverted to DB Plaza Bus Terminus on the same day.

As for Routes DB01R, DB03R and DB02R, they initially continued to stay at Discovery Bay Marina Drive Bus Terminus and Discovery Bay Temporary Bus Terminus as terminus respectively . On 15 September 2019, the daytime terminus of DB02R was relocated to this station, making it the first external route to use this stop as its terminus , and from the early morning of 12 January 2020, the terminus of DB01R and DB03R were also be relocated to this stop.

The bus terminus is located on the top floor of DB Plaza Extension, close to Discovery Bay Ferry Pier (with licensed ferry services to Central), D Deck, Discovery Bay Business Centre and La Costa (Phase 8).

Stop Allocation

According to the design chart , the bus terminus is divided into two parts, northern and southern, with northern part used by external routes and southern part reserved for internal routes, and there is a parking spot for hire vans at the terminus.

During the initial period of opening, DBTSL adopted a transitional arrangement that only routes serving the Discovery Bay Temporary Bus Terminus relocating to this stop and at the same time acting as an intermediate stop of Route DB02R late night trips, until 15 September 2019 when daytime trips of Route DB02R was relocated to this stop and during the early morning hours of 12 January 2020 when Routes DB01R and DB03R were changed to terminate at this stop.
