The Cross-Harbour Bus Route 955 is operated by Citybus. It runs between Tuen Mun (Ching Tin and Wo Tin) and Sai Wan Ho via Siu Hong, Hung Kiu, Tuen Mun Road, Route 3, the Central-Wan Chai Bypass, North Point East, Quarry Bay, and Tai Koo, with return trips observing Central, and operates during peak hours on weekdays.

History

Opening background

In order to cope with the future population growth of Tuen Mun Area 54, the Transport Department proposed in the 2019-2020 Bus Route Planning Programme to launch six new bus routes with this area as its terminus, including one to and from Sai Wan Ho (Tai On Street), taking Tuen Mun Road, Tsing Kwai Highway, West Kowloon Highway, and Western Harbor Crossing to cross the harbour, and go through the entire section of the Central-Wan Chai Bypass, with the return journey going via the Central-Wan Chai Bypass from Fortress Hill to Wan Chai, Fenwick Pier Street, Connaught Road Central, from Monday to Friday in the morning and afternoon, with one round trip service each during peak hours.

The Transport Department announced on 3 August 2021 that six new Tuen Mun Area 54 bus routes have been awarded to Citybus , with this route numbered 955.

Fare Remarks

Half-fare for children aged below 12 and senior citizens aged 65 or above; the remainder of the fare after half-fare will be counted as 10 cents. Elderly persons aged 65 or above using Senior Octopus Cards or Personalised Octopus cards, Hong Kong residents aged 60 to 64 using JoyYou Card, and eligible persons with disabilities using Personalised Octopus cards with "Persons with Disabilities Status" can enjoy a flat fare of $2.0 per journey under the $2 Concessionary Fare. If the concessionary fare for eligible persons with disabilities aged below 12 and senior citizens aged 65 or above is less than $2.0 after a 50% discount from the regular fare, the beneficiary is only required to pay the original concessionary fare; if the original full fare for Hong Kong residents aged 60 to 64 or eligible persons with disabilities is already less than $2.0, the beneficiary is also only required to pay the original full fare. Passengers are required to tender exact fare by cash or by Octopus card when boarding. No exact change will be given. Passengers may also use AlipayHK "EasyGo", Alipay, QuickPass, BoC Pay "RideCode", WeChat Pay HK or WeChat "Ride Code", Visa, Mastercard and UnionPay cards with inductive payment capabilities, as well as Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay and Huawei Pay mobile payment platforms for fare payment. Passengers using the above payment method can only enjoy the interchange concessions with other Citybus solely-operated routes or the Citybus departures of the jointly-operated routes, and cannot enjoy the "Public Transport Fare Subsidy Scheme" nor the "Public Transport Fare Concession Scheme for the Elderly and Eligible Persons with Disabilities".

Interchanging from the 934 series and 935 to Route 968/968A, the 960 and 961 series, Route T270, the 968 and 978 series of routes, Routes 930, 952, 962, 967 and 969 series of routes, as well as "A" Routes and "E" Routes are only applicable to Hong Kong Island or New Territories area transfers. Free second trips are not available when transferring at the Western Harbour Crossing; some Citybus interchange concessions are exclusively operated . There are also interchange concessions on Hong Kong Island between some of these routes, and the amount may be different from the Western Harbour Crossing interchanges. Please refer to the relevant entries on each route for details. Passengers on Routes 976 and 976A must interchange at the Western Harbour Crossing BBI. Passengers who interchange at Tai Lam Tunnel Toll Plaza cannot enjoy the interchange concessions. These interchange concessions can be used in conjunction with the interchange concession schemes for Hong Kong Island Routes, Tuen Mun Road Routes and Tai Lam Tunnel Routes. The discount for children under 12 years old is calculated at half the rate; for passengers who benefit from the Public Transport Fare Concession Scheme for the Elderly and Eligible Persons with Disabilities, if the second journey fare is the above second journey discount fare (for example, those aged 65 or above, qualified persons with disabilities, or passengers under 12 years old, the concession in halved) or $2.0, whichever is lower.
