The Cross-Harbour Bus Route 950 is operated solely by Citybus. It runs between Tuen Mun (Ching Tin and Wo Tin)[Remark 1] and Exhibition Centre Station, passing through Siu Hong, Hung Kiu before taking Tuen Mun Road and Route 3 to and from Sheung Wan, Central and Admiralty, with service provided only during peak hours on Mondays to Fridays.

History[]

Commencing background[]

To facilitate the future population growth in Area 54 of Tuen Mun, the Transport Department proposed in the 2019-2020 Bus Route Planning Programme to commence 6 new bus routes terminating in the area, with one of them running to and from Wan Chai North via Tuen Mun Road, Tsing Kwai Highway, West Kowloon Highway, Western Harbour Crossing to and from Siu Hong, Siu Hong, Sheung Wan, Admiralty and Wan Chai, with bidirectional one-way services operated in the morning and evening peak hours on Mondays to Fridays.

The Transport Department announced on 3 August 2021 that the operating rights for all 6 new Tuen Mun Area 54 bus routes were won by Citybus,[2] with this route being numbered 950. Due to the commissioning of the cross-harbour section of the MTR East Rail Line on 15 May 2022, the originally proposed Wan Chai North Terminus was closed permanently on the previous day (14 May), and from the same day onwards, all the bus routes of this terminus were relocated to the Exhibition Centre Station Public Transport Interchange after the reprovisioning of the former Wan Chai Ferry Pier Bus Terminus, and the Island terminus of this route was also relocated to the latter. [3]

Route change history[]

  • 26 September 2022: Route 950 entered service.[4]
  • 6 November 2023: Morning headways were increased to two, departing from Tuen Mun at 07:10 and 07:25 on Mondays to Fridays. [5][6]
