The Cross-Harbour Bus Route 905P is jointly operated by Citybus and Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB) and is a special departure of Route 905. It runs one-way from Lai Chi Kok to Wan Chai (Harbour Road) only on Monday to Friday morning peak hours. After passing through Sham Shui Po West, Tai Kok Tsui and Mong Kok West, it takes the Western Harbour Crossing to Shek Tong Tsui, Sai Ying Pun, Sheung Wan and Central on Hong Kong Island.

At the beginning, New World First Bus (NWFB) displayed "Wan Chai (HKCEC)" on the electronic destination sign of its fleet. In fact, the destination was opposite the Wan Chai Training Pool on Harbour Road, which has a distance away from the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Later, it was changed to display separately in 2 pages showing "Wan Chai" and "Harbour Road" alternately.

History[]

Commencement background[]

In view of the decline in the passenger volume of Route 905 after the opening of the West Island Line, the authorities proposed to allocate resources from this route in the 2016-2017 Bus Route Planning Programme to commence a new morning auxiliary route to expand its scope of services, and respond to the demands of residents in the Tai Kok Tsui area for direct bus services to the Central and Western District. The proposed Route 905P would start from Lai Chi Kok and then take Sham Shing Road, Sham Mong Road, Tai Kok Tsui Road and Hoi Wang Road to Western Harbour Crossing. It would not pass through Cheung Sha Wan Road, Nathan Road, Sai Yeung Choi Street South and Argyle Street unlike the main route. After crossing the harbour buses would follow Route 905 to Wan Chai, ending at Harbour Road near Wan Chai Training Pool.

In the first round of suggestions, the route would pass through Hoi Wang Road and the eastern section Hoi Ting Road in Mong Kok West. After consulting the district council and local people, it was changed to observe Hoi Wang Road near Hoi Fu Court, bypassing the Mong Kok (Park Avenue) Bus Terminus, and then U-turn back to Cherry Street.
