The Overnight Airbus Route NA12 is one of the Cityflyer routes operated by Citybus. It provides a one-way service from Heng Fa Chuen to the HZMB Hong Kong Port [Remark 1] every morning, passing through Siu Sai Wan, Chai Wan, Shau Kei Wan, Quarry Bay, North Point, Central (Connaught Road Central) and Shek Tong Tsui, and connects to the Hong Kong International Airport and the HZMB Hong Kong Port Public Transport Interchange via the Western Harbour Crossing, West Kowloon Highway, Stonecutters Bridge and Lantau Link.

Route NA12 broke three records of franchised bus routes in Hong Kong, firstly being the longest one-way route with a mileage of 60 kilometres, secondly having the longest travelling time among all one-way routes with a journey time of 115 minutes, surpassing all overnight routes; and together with Route NA10 which commenced on the same day, having the highest full fare, and was also the only one of the NA routes that provided one-way service to Lantau. In addition, it is the only NA route that provides one-way service to Lantau. [1]

History[]

  • 29 June 2017: Route NA12 entered service as a trial until 31 August of the same year, operating one-way from Siu Sai Wan (Island Resort) to Airport, replacing the 05:00 early morning additional departure of Route A12 that operated during long holiday periods.[2]
    • The service period was later extended to 9 October of the same year. [3]
  • 16 December 2017: [4]
    • Additional services were added for the winter until 23 February 2018;
    • An additional stop at "Chai Wan Station" bus stop was added and the stop at Cathay Pacific City was removed from this route.
  • 17 March 2018: A daily service during the spring period was added and the service period was extended until 10 April of the same year.[5]
  • 3 September 2018: Service on this route was enhanced.[6][7]
  • 25 October 2018: In cooperation with the opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, the route was extended to HZMB Hong Kong Port:[8][9]
    • After stopping at Sky Plaza Road's "Airport (Terminal 2)" bus stop and running towards Airport South Interchange, the new routing would direct buses via Cheong Lin Road, Sky City Interchange, Chek Lap Kok Road, Shun Fai Road, and Shun Wui Road towards the new terminus, stopping at Shun Fai Road's "HZMB Passenger Clearance Building" bus stop, thereby cancelling the "Airport (Ground Transportation Centre)" bus stop.
  • 29 September 2019: In response to the expansion project of Airport Passenger Terminal 2, buses no longer went via Sky Plaza Road, and the "Airport (Terminal 2)" bus stop was cancelled.[10][11]
  • 1 April 2020: Services were temporarily suspended due to the novel coronavirus outbreak.[12]
  • 20 December 2022: Services during long holidays were resumed.
