Citybus Route N50

A Special Service Arrangement is now in effect on this route until further notice.
Due to the modification works of the bus terminus, during the period from 25 March 2024 to the completion of the works, Route N50 to Tuen Mun (Ching Tin and Wo Tin) will be changed to terminate at Hing Kwai Street "Wo Tin Estate" stop as the last stop, and will not return to Ching Tin Estate. [1]
Special Service Arrangements may vary according to actual road conditions.

The New Territories Special Bus Route (Overnight Service) N50 is operated by Citybus. It runs between Tsim Sha Tsui (Kowloon Station) and Tuen Mun (Ching Tin and Wo Tin), via Yau Ma Tei, Mong Kok, via West Kowloon Corridor, Tsuen Wan Road, Tuen Mun Road to run between Tuen Mun Town Centre, Hung Kiu, Siu Hong, with an extra stop at Mei Foo on the outbound journey, providing only one-way inbound service in the late evening and one-way outbound service early morning every day.

This is the overnight version of Route 50 and the routing and stopping arrangements are similar to the latter, except that there are intermidiate stops in Tuen Mun Town Centre in both directions.

History[]

Opening Background[]

In response to the population growth of Tuen Mun Area 54 (Ching Tin Estate and Wo Tin Estate), the Transport Department proposed to refer to Route 50 in the "Bus Route Planning Programme 2023-2024", the late-night route N50 would be launched to run between Tuen Mun (Yan Po Road) and Tsim Sha Tsui (Kowloon Station), with intermidiate bus stops in Tuen Mun Town Centre to facilitate residents’ travel and strengthen the late-night bus network on Tuen Mun Road Bus-Bus Interchange.[2]

Route Changes[]

  • 18 December 2023: Route N50 entered service. [3][4]
  • 28 July 2024: Buses to Kowloon Station called additionally at "Mei Foo bus stop on Cheung Sha Wan Road, with a new section fare starting from this stop. [5][6]

Interchange Arrangements[]

Buses on this route and N962 buses arrive at Tuen Mun Road Bus-Bus Interchange at similar times to facilitate passengers' interchanging. When the bus on this route arrives and at the same time the bus on Route N962 has not yet arrived, passengers need to wait for the vehicle and all passengers on the route to transfer before continuing the journey.[7]

Fare Remarks
  • Half-fare for children aged below 12 and senior citizens aged 65 or above; the remainder of the fare after half-fare will be counted as 10 cents.
  • Elderly persons aged 65 or above using Senior Octopus Cards or Personalised Octopus cards, Hong Kong residents aged 60 to 64 using JoyYou Card, and eligible persons with disabilities using Personalised Octopus cards with "Persons with Disabilities Status" can enjoy a flat fare of $2.0 per journey under the $2 Concessionary Fare. If the concessionary fare for eligible persons with disabilities aged below 12 and senior citizens aged 65 or above is less than $2.0 after a 50% discount from the regular fare, the beneficiary is only required to pay the original concessionary fare; if the original full fare for Hong Kong residents aged 60 to 64 or eligible persons with disabilities is already less than $2.0, the beneficiary is also only required to pay the original full fare.
  • Passengers are required to tender exact fare by cash or by Octopus card when boarding. No exact change will be given.
  • Passengers may also use AlipayHK "EasyGo", Alipay, QuickPass, BoC Pay "RideCode", WeChat Pay HK or WeChat "Ride Code", Visa, Mastercard and UnionPay cards with inductive payment capabilities, as well as Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay and Huawei Pay mobile payment platforms for fare payment. Passengers using the above payment method can only enjoy the interchange concessions with other Citybus solely-operated routes or the Citybus departures of the jointly-operated routes, and cannot enjoy the "Public Transport Fare Subsidy Scheme" nor the "Public Transport Fare Concession Scheme for the Elderly and Eligible Persons with Disabilities".
