The defunct New Territories Bus Route 795P was operated by Citybus. It ran between Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate and Cheung Sha Wan (Hoi Tat)[Remark 1], via Yau Ma Tei, Mong Kok, Mei Foo and Cheung Sha Wan Business Area. It belonged to a special departure of Route 793.[Remark 2]

Route 795P ran via Tseung Kwan O Tunnel, Kai Tak Tunnel, East Kowloon Corridor and West Kowloon Corridor. Together with Route 795 that observes Tseung Lam Highway, it provided peak hour express service between LOHAS Park and Kowloon West.

History[]

This route was proposed in the 2021-2022 Bus Route Planning Programme for travelling between LOHAS Park and Cheung Sha Wan (Banyan Garden), providing a special express connection between LOHAS Park and the Yau Ma Tei and Cheung Sha Wan business areas during peak hours. The original proposed route number was X795, which is a special departure from Route 796E.[1]

The route commenced operation on 28 February 2022 and renumbered as 795P, with no intermediate stops between Siu Chik Sha and Yau Ma Tei, providing residents of LOHAS Park and The Beaumount with direct housing estate service to Kowloon. [2][3]

However, on the eve of the commencement of service, the Transport Department and NWFB claimed in the 2022-2023 Bus Route Planning Programme that they had to cater for the demand of passengers from Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate and Hoi Tat Estate in Sham Shui Po West, and proposed to extend the routes to operate between Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate and Cheung Sha Wan (Hoi Tat), with the departure times remaining unchanged.[4]

The above re-routing was implemented on 5 December 2022.[5][6] One week later, to tie in with the opening of Tseung Lam Highway, a new route 795 was introduced to serve both Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate and Hoi Tat Estate, with the exception of intermediate routes via the new road and Laguna City, which were identical. The two routes also operate a combined headway of 20/15 minutes in the morning to Kowloon and in the evening to Tseung Kwan O.

Since then, the two routes have undergone different changes together: the opening of the Hoi Tat Public Transport Interchange on 23 April 2023, followed by the relocation of the Cheung Sha Wan Terminus from off Sham Mong Road[7][8]; and the merger of the franchises of Citybus and NWFB on 1 July of the same year, which was similarly changed to be operated by Citybus.

The two routes have overlapping routes and the patronage is also low, with Route 795P having a patronage rate of only 22%, which is lower than the average 32% of Route 795 per trip. In order to optimise the use of bus resources to serve LOHAS Park comprehensively, a merger of the two routes was proposed in the "2024-2025 Bus Route Planning Programme", which came into effect on 4 November 2024, and the original 795P route was changed to operate at the same time as the 795P route. The original departure time of Route 795P has been changed to Route 795, which makes it more convenient for passengers travelling from Wan O Road to urban Kowloon or using the Tseung Lam Tunnel interchange network.[9]

This route was originally a special departure of Route 796E; after the merger of Routes 796E and 796C to form Route 793, this route was reclassified as a special departure of Route 793, but the Schedule of Routes Order effective from 2023 has mistakenly classified it as a special departure of Route 795.
