The Hong Kong Island Mid-Levels Bus Route 1P is operated by Citybus. It runs one-way from Wong Nai Chung Road (Broadwood Road) to Central[Remark 1], passing through Happy Valley (Lower), Wan Chai (Queen's Road East) and Admiralty. It is only available during morning peak hours from Mondays to Fridays.

Although this route is classified as a special departure of Route 1 in the Schedule of Routes Order, and is also classified as a "Hong Kong Island Mid-Levels Bus Route", its fares are on a par with the other trunk routes in the area, and it does not have the higher fares of the rest of the Mid-Levels routes that use up the Scale of Fares.

History[]

Commencing background[]

The Transport Department considered that the travelling pattern of Central and Western District passengers would change upon the commissioning of MTR Island Line Extension to Western District in late 2014, and therefore, in the document entitled "Revised Public Transport Re-organisation Plans to tie in with the Commissioning of the West Island Line"[1] issued in July 2013, it was proposed that Route 5S would be cancelled and replaced by Route 1P operated by Citybus, which would provide bus services from Happy Valley to Wan Chai, Admiralty and Central from Mondays to Fridays mornings, as well as Joint service with 1 route at the above section with a frequency of about 6 minutes.

Subsequently, in January 2014, the Transport Department revised the scheme in "Revised Public Transport Re-organisation Plans to tie in with the Commissioning of the West Island Line (January 2014)"[2], proposing a new return service from Central to Happy Valley on Monday to Friday afternoons for this route.
