Cathay Pacific City (East) (國泰城(東)) bus stop is located outside Cathay Pacific City on northbound East Coast Road, Airport Logistics Area, Chek Lap Kok, Islands District, New Territories. It is a roadside intermediate bus stop.
Despite several routes heading to Passenger Terminal Building passes through the section of East Coast Road outside this stop, only Citybus solely-operated routes call here. Passengers have to walk to "Cathay Pacific City" stop on southbound or "Aviation Fuel Tank Farm" stop on northbound Scenic Road to wait for other routes.
Passengers wish to wait for buses on the opposite direction should wait at the bus stop opposite to Cathay Pacific City or "Aviation Fuel Tank Farm" on Scenic Road southbound.
When the Citybus Stop Announcement System announces this stop, the screen displays " Cathay Pacific City (East), Airport Golden Trumpet Trail" (國泰城(東)、機場風鈴徑).
History[]
This stop was opened on 22 June 1998 to coincide with the opening of the Airport Logistics Area. Initially, all Citybus routes passing through the section of East Coast Road outside Cathay City used this stop[1], which was named "Cathay City, East Coast Road" (國泰城,東岸路) to distinguish it from the bus stop outside the main entrance of Cathay City.
Although Citybus had already set up a stop sign at this stop and posted the route number using this stop on the stop sign, the website did not list any information about this stop for a long time. It was not until Route N21A commenced service on 18 July 2005 that Citybus finally listed this stop on its website. Two years later, on 10 December 2007, Route S56 added a stop here in the direction of the Airport Passenger Terminal, and Citybus made the same arrangement, but there was still no information about this stop in the information of other routes.
In February 2011, Citybus renamed this stop "Cathay City (East), East Coast Road" (國泰城(東)), and the remaining bus routes that used this stop were added to the website.
New Lantao Bus (NLB) used to have a stop sign at this station for Routes A35 and N35, but in fact the two routes have not stopped here since their inception and the sign has since been removed.
Park Island Transport (PITCL)'s Route NR334 once used this stop, which was named "Cathay City" (國泰城), however no stop signs were set up.
In 2019, Citybus renamed the English name of this bus stop into "Cathay Pacific City (East)", in line with the official name of the building which was renamed in 2016.
On 29 January 2023, New Territories GMB Route 901 was rerouted, with a new stop set up here for HZMB Hong Kong Port direction, and the English stop name used the previous Citybus naming - "Cathay City (East)".
In March 2023, Route S1 temporarily made a stop here during weekends, with Long Win Bus (LWB) naming it "Airport Golden Trumpet Trail" (機場風鈴徑).
Surrounding facilities[]
The bus stop is located opposite the rear entrance of Cathay Pacific City, allowing passengers to return to the main entrance via the car park. There is a footpath on the left side not far from the bridge underneath the front of the bus stop, which leads to the Chek Lap Kok South Fire Station, Cathay Dining and the Airport Golden Trumpet Trail.
