Major events/incidents

• 1998: Kai Tak Airport was closed and the new airport at Chek Lap Kok was opened. 6 routes to and from Kai Tak Airport were cancelled and 7 routes serving the new airport were launched on the same day, see the following chapters for details.
• 2017: The last day of revenue service for KMB's non-low-floor buses.

Bus stops

• 2003: Ping Tin Public Transport Interchange was opened.

Route introductions

• 1992: KMB Route 242X and Cross-Harbour Bus Route 680 entered service.
• 1998: With the opening of Hong Kong International Airport, Citybus routes A11, A12, A21, A22, Long Win Bus routes A31, A41, NLB Route A35, KMB routes M1 and M2 entered service.
• 2015: Residents' Bus Route NR533entered service.
• 2018: Second generation KMB Route 215R and KMB Route 271Rentered service.

Route cancellations

• 1998:
  • With the closure of Kai Tak Airport, KMB routes A1, A2, A3, A5, A7 and CMB Route A20 ceased service.
  • First generation Citybus Route 90C ceased service.

Route changes

• 1980: First generation KMB Route 60R 1st generation was rerouted via Cheung Wing Road Gyratory for both directions and was also rerouted via Cheung Wing Road in lieu of Lei Muk Road for Ting Kau direction.
• 1992: KMB Route 42C was rerouted via Tsuen Fu Street and Kwan Mun Hau Street for Lam Tin MTR Station with a new stop at Tsuen Fu Street Garden.
• 1998:
  • LWB Route E31 was changed to terminate at Tsuen Wan (Discovery Park)
  • Kowloon GMB Route 69 no longer detoured via Kai Tak Airport Passenger Terminal Building.
• 2002: The terminus of KMB Route 72 was relocated from Mong Kok (Park Avenue) to Cheung Sha Wan.
• 2003: KMB routes 15A, 15P, 16, 38, Cross-Harbour Bus Routes 603, 603P and KMB Route 889 all changed to terminate at Ping Tin.
