Major events/incidents[]

  • 1998: Kai Tak Airport was closed and the new airport at Chek Lap Kok was opened. 6 routes to and from Kai Tak Airport were cancelled and 7 routes serving the new airport were launched on the same day, see the following chapters for details.
  • 2017: The last day of revenue service for KMB's non-low-floor buses.

  • 1980: First generation KMB Route 60R 1st generation was rerouted via Cheung Wing Road Gyratory for both directions and was also rerouted via Cheung Wing Road in lieu of Lei Muk Road for Ting Kau direction.
  • 1992: KMB Route 42C was rerouted via Tsuen Fu Street and Kwan Mun Hau Street for Lam Tin MTR Station with a new stop at Tsuen Fu Street Garden.
  • 1998:
  • 2002: The terminus of KMB Route 72 was relocated from Mong Kok (Park Avenue) to Cheung Sha Wan.
  • 2003: KMB routes 15A, 15P, 16, 38, Cross-Harbour Bus Routes 603, 603P and KMB Route 889 all changed to terminate at Ping Tin.
