Major events[]

  • 2003: 24-hour border crossing at Lok Ma Chau Control Point and Huanggang Port of Entry began with the following changes made to the bus and minibus services:
    • Huang Bus was upgraded to daily 24-hour service;
    • Two overnight franchised bus routes and one overnight green minibus route were introduced, see Route introductions for details.

Route introductions[]

  • 1968: Second generation KMB Route 19 entered service.
  • 1979: Second generation Hong Kong Island GMB Route 16, second generation Hong Kong Island GMB Route 17 and Hong Kong Island GMB Route 19 entered service.
  • 1992: KMB Route 224M and KMB Route 258C entered service.
  • 1998: NLB Route 36, first generation Citybus Route E11S and Cross-Harbour Bus Route N970 entered service.
  • 2003: New Territories GMB Route 79S, KMB Route N76 and KMB Route N277 entered service.
  • 2014: LWB Route N30P was converted to a regular service.
  • 2015: Kowloon GMB Route 87 entered service.

Route cancellations[]

Route changes[]

  • 1979: Hong Kong Island GMB Route 15 was changed to operate between Stanley Fort and Chung Hom Kok.
  • 1980: KMB Route 42 was rerouted via New Clear Water Bay Road for both directions, omitting Kwun Tong Road and Hip Wo Street.
  • 1992: KMB Route 74A detoured via Wan Tau Tong.
  • 2002: Citybus Route A12 was detoured via Shek Tong Tsui (area around Ka On Street) with Octopus interchange concessions provided with various routes.
  • 2013: The termini of KMB routes 51 and 53 were relocated from Tsuen Wan (Nina Tower) to Tsuen Wan West Railway Station; while KMB Route 234B no longer detoured via Tsuen Wan (Nina Tower).
  • 2017: Tai Po terminus of LWB Route A47X was relocated to Fu Heng, which passed through Tai Po Market Station and Kwong Fuk Estate for both directions, with some trips also detouring via Tai Po Central, Hong Kong Science Park, University Station and Cathay City.
  • 2018: KMB Route 76K was rerouted via Kik Yeung Road, Yuen Long On Ning Road, Ma Miu Road, Wang Tat Road, Wang Lok Street, Fuk Hi Road and Long Ping Road after Castle Peak Road - Yuen Long to the terminus for Yuen Long (Long Ping Estate) direction; and rerouted via Ping Wui Street, Yuen Long On Ning Road and Ma Miu Road after Fung Chi Road to return to original routing at Castle Peak Road - Ping Shan for Sheung Shui (Ching Ho) to replace the route at Ma Wang Road and Castle Peak Road - Ping Shan.
  • 2019: New Territories GMB Route 10M was rerouted via Po Shun Road, Po Lam Road North, Po Fung Road and Mau Yip Road after reaching Tseung Kwan O Tunnel Road for Tseung Kwan O (Well On Garden) direction.
  • 2022: KMB Route N78 detoured via Queen's Hill Public Transport Terminus.
  • 2024: Saturday services on KMB Route 85S were cancelled.
